Dating tips

A more intentional way to date

FateDate is designed to help you move from connection to real-world dating with clarity and intention. These tips are here to help you get the most out of your experience and build better, more meaningful connections.

01

Don't rush to match

Matching isn't the goal — it's just one step in the process.

Take time to meet, experience different connections, and understand what feels right for you.

Real compatibility is built over time, not decided instantly.

02

Focus on real chemistry

You can't fully understand a connection through messages alone.

Meeting in person allows you to experience tone, energy, and presence — the things that actually matter when deciding if someone is right for you.

03

Be present on your dates

A great date isn't about being perfect — it's about being real.

  • Be yourself
  • Stay engaged in the conversation
  • Listen as much as you talk
  • Keep an open mind

Authenticity creates better outcomes than trying to impress.

04

Set clear expectations

Clarity removes awkwardness. Before your date, use DateDiary to agree:

  • Time and location
  • Venue
  • Payment preferences

This helps both people feel more comfortable and aligned from the start.

05

Take your time

There's no pressure to rush decisions.

Some connections take longer to build, and that's part of the process.

Give yourself space to explore and see where things naturally go.

06

Recognise healthy vs unhealthy behaviour

Good connections feel:

  • Respectful
  • Balanced
  • Comfortable

Be mindful of pressure to move too fast, overly intense behaviour early on, or anything that ignores your boundaries. If something feels off, trust your instinct.

07

It's okay if it's not a match

Not every date will lead to something more — and that's normal.

FateDate is designed to help you explore connections and learn what works for you.

Every experience helps you move closer to the right one.

08

Stay open to different outcomes

Not every connection needs to be romantic. You can:

  • Match
  • Stay connected as friends
  • Or move on

The goal is to create genuine, positive interactions — whatever form they take.

A better way to date

FateDate gives you the structure to move beyond endless messaging and into real experiences. Take your time. Stay intentional. Let things unfold naturally.

Safety advice

Designed to help you date with confidence.

FateDate is built around structured real-world dating, with safety considered at every stage. Alongside our in-app features, these guidelines are here to help you make informed, confident decisions.

01

Protect your personal information

Getting to know someone takes time — and not everything needs to be shared straight away.

  • Avoid sharing your home address, workplace, or daily routines
  • Be cautious about giving out your phone number or social media too early
  • Never share financial details or send money

Use your FateDate ID and in-app features to communicate safely.

02

Meeting in person

For first dates, always prioritise safe, public environments.

  • Meet at vetted, public venues
  • Avoid being picked up from home
  • Do not share your home address
  • Let someone you trust know where you are going

Only leave a venue together if both people clearly agree.

03

Alcohol & awareness

A drink can help ease nerves, but staying in control is important.

  • Know your limits
  • Don't feel pressured to drink
  • Keep your drink with you at all times
  • Stop drinking anything that seems unusual

If you feel unwell or unsafe, seek help from venue staff immediately.

04

Drugs & boundaries

Substances can affect judgement and decision-making.

  • Never feel pressured to take anything
  • Be cautious of anyone encouraging risky behaviour
  • If something feels off, remove yourself from the situation

Your safety always comes first.

05

If a date isn't going as planned

Not every date will feel right — and you're always in control.

You can end a date at any time using the End Date Now feature. No explanation is required. Your decision should always be respected. You can leave safely and confidently.

If the other person ends the date, respect their decision and move on.

06

Handling unwanted behaviour

If someone ignores your boundaries, makes you feel uncomfortable, or pressures you:

  • Disengage
  • Block
  • Report

"No" is always a complete answer.

07

When to report someone

Report users who:

  • Harass or threaten
  • Attempt to scam or request money
  • Misrepresent themselves
  • Try to bypass safety features
  • Make you feel unsafe

Reports are taken seriously and reviewed promptly.

08

Out & About Mode safety

Out & About Mode is designed with privacy in mind.

  • Exact locations are never shared
  • Encounters are delayed and not shown in real time
  • Users cannot track movements

This ensures real-world discovery remains safe and controlled.

09

Understanding your rights

If you have concerns about someone's background, you can use UK safeguarding tools:

  • Clare's Law — request information about a partner's history of domestic abuse
  • Sarah's Law — check if someone has a history of offences against children

These services are provided by UK police and operate independently of FateDate. If you are ever in immediate danger, call 999.

A shared responsibility.

FateDate provides tools, structure, and safeguards to support safer dating. Your awareness and decisions also play an important role. Trust your instincts, take your time, and prioritise your safety at every stage.
